Why not Volunteer with the One to One Project?

The One to One Project regularly recruits volunteers to join our small friendly team as Counsellors, Community Mentors and Trustees.

Volunteers Always welcome

Our services are held in high regards amongst the local community and health professionals and this is maintained by the careful selection of our team.
The clinical work that we carry out is often complex and emotionally demanding  and therefore there exists a thorough application process to ensure that all of our volunteers are appropriately trained.

Counsellors

The One to One Project recruits qualified and trainee counsellors, who have completed or are in their final year of advanced/post graduate diploma level training or equivalent in counselling or psychotherapy.

The Project is a highly regarded provider of placements by local colleges and universities for the opportunity it offers to work with a broad range of clients.

The Project also offers:

  • A safe and supported environment, working to BACP Ethical Guidelines
  • Group supervision each month.
  • Low-cost clinical supervisors for individual supervision (required monthly)
  • Exciting and informative CPD opportunities
  • Hours towards required diploma hours or BACP accreditation

If you are qualified or in the last year of a recognised diploma course, please complete our student counsellor Placement application form at the bottom of this page and submit. We will then arrange an informal meeting to discuss your application.

Mentor Befrienders

Mentor Befriender volunteers are also recruited on a regular basis and are required to attend a thorough in-house training. Mentor Befrienders are given full support in Safeguarding, Lone Working, Boundaries and Confidentiality.

Training lasts for approximately two days and the cost of your enhanced DBS check will be met by the One to One Project.

If you are looking for experience in working within a mental health-based setting or think that you can offer a listening ear to support and encourage a more fulfilling way of life for someone, please complete and submit the community mentor application form.

You can fill in our online application form here.

Trustees

Our small informal group of Trustees are vital to the overall management of the Project and are instrumental in planning the Project’s exciting future.

Why not consider making your skills and experience count? Our Trustees come from a variety of backgrounds and have a diverse range of expertise, including fundraising, minute-taking, administration, marketing and promotion and volunteer care.

You should enjoy working as part of a team and be available for evening meetings once a month.
